Special THANKS to Jan Sullivan, Mike Spiderman Fresca for the poster and lanyard work. We got over with tons of major goofage with the lanyards and All Access passes. And ours was 10 times cooler than Ozzy's so a job well done there. Also thanks to Dave Manley, Justin, Shawn and all the Dallas posse. Love the Philly and Dallas street teams -way to go- you out did yourselves again.

Hit the start of the Ride for Dime at the Biker Bar and rode right to the show at Palladeum.
Oh Boy ! More Stairs !!! Everything was banging upstairs and the show began with Habit of Force from Chicago. Big Truck and crew brought the serious vibe including riffs and speech about the love for Dime and Texas. This is one cool cat definately the most potential of all the bands there that day. Fucking righteous encore with Margie from A.D.D. and Mongo from Hillbilly Orchestra helping on vocals, that was awesome song so many Pantera song sI need help was it A New Level? Sorry the brain cell count was getting low by Sunday folks.
Next came Blacktooth from Turkey. Great ot see them again they finished 2nd in the Monster drink contest. Lots of Pantera riffs and it was great to jump up onstage and swing them a Blacktooth and toast to America and Texas!
Fucking cool guys I hope they make it big in America.
Crowd seemed to split for Bar B Q and miss out on one great act "Blood Of The Sun" from Dallas area. These guys are bros with Whiskey Dick and Within Chaos and definately have their own style of boogie down rock and roll I enjoyed the shit outta that set and it was great to hang with them afterwards. Great stuff.
Next up was Violent Intentions with some classic old school metal , Morbid Angel and ":the scary shit" as the lead singer said. Wicked drums and thrashing guitars the crowd ate it up.

Highlight of the night was Bob Zilla from Hellyeah taking the stage and jamming with "The Kid"Junior I believe, who was outside strumming his Damageplan guitar Dime gave to him. They put on a power trio set that was fucking awesome. Thanks for signing the poster guys!!!
Then Vinnie Paul appears out of nowhere and makes the night even BETTER!!
Then the awesome and incredible Texas Hippie Coalition finished the night with their serious brand of rebel outlaw metal. Big Daddy Rich in full effect and this version of THC is the BEST. Lots of Randy Coop

Highlight of the set was King Diamond for certain. You could tell Tallica was digging getting to play with their idol. They nailed the tunes and King Diamond was fucking scary!!! Nice job indeed.
New Song "Cyanide" was great -classic Metallica - looking forward to new album for sure. Lots of Kirk and there will be no problem.
The pyro on "ONE" was monster epic that was very cool.
Overall that was loudest speaker set I have ever experienced. Being right up front it shook you to your core, I had to keep checking to see if my nose was bleeding, felt like my brain was hemorraging!!
Hung out in the parking lot until about 2 AM then headed back for that consistent 2 1/2 hours of sleep per night!

Next Up - Metallica
Totally back in full form playing like it was meant to be, none of the stuff from the last three albums and their impersonation of System of a Downer, they put Kirk back in the limelight and it all is Metallicious!!!
Looked like million dollar video equipment the images and giant screen were incredible!
Creeping Death and tons of old school classics the Metallicats were bringing the hammer indeed.
Master of Puppets i think is where Lars took off early and James finished his drums on the song, looked like Lars was pissed with that - same old Metallica !!!

Then it was Ozzy's turn. The Anna Nicole of Metal it is amazing testimony to pharmaceutical science that Ozz Man is still kicking. Looks like about 1/4 million of plastic Mike Jackson work done on his face, and he was pretty much on que for most of the set. Added a few hits not played in awhile, could this be the last of Ozzy?
The intro video was funny stupid outrageous and 100% fucking Ozzy what a card, a ham if you will.
Zakk was killer!!! I love him as Ozzy's guitar player I think he loses a bit when he has to worry about singing in BLS , but man that dude really can rip. Hi s solo piece on Crazy Train was epic to the max. Dude has Jimi Hendrix in him for sure.
Ozzy had the usual water bucket brigade going but the killer foam shit was a wee bit over the top. I saw that coming and ducked but man did the security dudes and camera man ever get drilled!
Ozz had some trouble holding the hose up and cranking it open, so the first shot was a 2500 pound pressure blast to the back of the head of a dude who had no clue what was coming he had his back to the stage.
Fucking camera dude almost got blown off his table once that would have hurt and I am not sure he didn't mess up his equipment.
Turns out it was fire retardant #1 and if you have sensitive skin it kind of feels like napalm on your skin and blisters it so as to enhance the sunburn effect. So a little over the top perhaps but hey it's Ozzy so if you don't wanna get any on ya stand back.
These guys working the show, the crew, the video guys -Video Bob from Hell Yeah were out in that heat taking a beating so that was some serious commitment to detail - most impressive - I only had to walk up those fucking stairs 200 times!

Saw the DevilDriver set that was beautiful. To see them play two small clubs then go outdoor giant festival was very very cool. They actually are designed for festival rock and the closing "Wretched" with circle pit bigger than the stage, had the crowd fleeing for their lives, heading for the outer boundaries.
Then the dust storm they create in the pit is not unlike a tornando starting! The wind was up a bit so it was a piece of art.
They did a quick meet and greet and then off to Broeklin' wedding in Santa Barbara I think. Want to see pics of DevilDriver in Tuxedos for sure, one of the BEST pics ever is "The Mettalicats" with Metallica in Tuxedos, got to see DD all pimped out!!
Headed bck in to catch the end of Jonathan Davis he was wearing Yums I believe very nice suit and colorful sneakers. Comfort that is what it is all about.
I think as far as having a side project and rocking with it, Jonathan's gig is more rocking and less like Korn than Serj's band is to System of a Down. Heard a comment at the bar regarding Serj being a bad version of SOD and even they suck - so what is THAT! Dude got a positive response indeed.
Me, I loved not seeing Walk with Kirk and Scott Ian playing a tribute to Dime because Serj had to show us one more shit song and a drummer in black leotards and green fairy wings. What the fuck indeed. A one day event and you gotta stick to a tight schedule you can't drop a song go over by one fucking song and that song is WALK??? By far the biggest disappointment. Hopefull y they will shred that mother this weekend in LA.
Nice job by the stadium to make the musicians walk 4 flights of stairs to get to the stage I am sure they enjoyed that!!!
The heat was not as nearly as killer as the walk up those fucking stairs!!! Stair Master disciples were dry heaving!!!
Hell Yeah brought things back to normal with their party brand of Rock and Whiskey Roll. I do not think they have played much lately so they jumped r

Part 5 - Ozzfest there is Nonelouder!!!!
Good thing I spent the previous two days in the club sauna circuit outdoors in Dallas seemed rather spring like by comparison!!!
Let's start at the end where Metallica ruled the day for certain!! They are back and better than ever. I know y'all love drunk performers all the time but they would be totally fucked if they still drank. James is on top and like they say nobody ever complained about AC/DC sounding the same since forever what is there NOT to like about Metallica.
And so much for no cameras check this shit out from you Tube - thanks Kittack

Part 4 - DevilDriver Destroys the Meridian
Hit H-Town and got right after it. A great show (again) by the openers DevilDriver nailing down their Ozzfest set and then some. Great to see three shows back to back to back and see the transition from club to Outdoor stadium. From 1000 to 32,000 and the Driver delivers anywhere, anytime. By far and away the BEST band in metal today. Crowd was extra nuts and parking lot fiascos were abundant. Had to hit the road for 5 hour epic journey to Ozzfest with rest stop in Hunstville for a couple hours then off to Dallas!

Part 3 - DevilDriver takes over Red 7
Austin Texas on 7th the commie Red Bar. Got to see DevilDriver my boys!!! Welcome back to Texas boys, they are on a two day warm up with KEVIN TALLEY , subbing in for the soon to be hitched John Boeklin will be joining us for OZZFEST. TALLEY recently finished a new record with his current band DAATH, due out this fall. He has recorded and/or toured with DYING FETUS, CHIMAIRA, THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER, THE RED CHORD, HATE ETERNAL, M.O.D., MISERY INDEX, and SUFFOCATION. Needless to say he was able to pull off the Driver's tunes.
Opening acts Within Chaos and In This Moment were rocking to the extreme the crowd really loved it.
Invited them down to the Wave on 6th after the show Jeff and Kevin hung out with us till almost closing. HAd to take the Hoochman home in rickshaw, management thought he was gonna barf.
Woke up about 6 AM the next day and hung out in Austin waiting for the DevilDriver mirror drop off from Mirror Mike Flores - The BEST.
Went to the Oasis newly refurbished after burning down a yer or so ago. BEST place in Austin to hang the Oasis.

Part 2 - Whiskey Dick on my mind The Fritz and Johnson Show.
Ft.Worth Texas
Hit Dallas got to meet the likes of Shawn from Scum Scunge one of Dimebag's oldest friends , he told some great tales, as did Justin the Man he also is a good friend and has a lot of memorabilia even though he lost most of his stuff in a fire couple years ago. Some cool folks in Dallas indeed. Then hit Sports Bar du Rock and caught Whiskey Dick! The greatest two piece band in the world - sorry Tenacious D you have been topped!

Got to hear Wookie Pussy TWICE!!! Got the super Porn version of Purple Piss on me Rain - Blacktooth Showed up and we got Blacktoothed AND Brewed.
Got to meet their crew, Fritz's Moms and fans - the chicks dig these guys.
Brought their ass down to Austin the next night and we got some whiskey in listening to their boys from Ft. Worth - Within Chaos -
Check out Whiskey Dick you will not regret it. They carry on the true spirit of Dimebag - Texas Outlaw style.

The GREATEST 9 DAYS of METAL - EVER!
Part 1 - Philadelphia Explodes Scranton gets Disturbed
Leave the Reverend's shop and head to hotel and meet Uncle Joe from Jekylls Hyde and the band.
Head to "CLubhouse" basically PAs largest tribute museum and beer hollow to one Dimebag Darrell Abbott.
Fucking awesome digs, giving me this "we are just a cover band" shit while proceeding to blow shit up like I have never heard before. These boys have not been laying around drinking and smoking they have been playing and it is evident. Pretty much a complete greatest hits set with the Soulfly shit being my hilight of the night.
Off to rest about 4 AM up at 10 for Ride For Dime 4 !!!!
Start with a toast about 10:30 from the frozen ice covered gallon of Crown. OOOH that was too smooth let's try and pace ourselves everybody!!! (by the way I made it to 4;30AM and tied with Dan McNew for "Last Man Standing Award"
First of all let us be crystal clear. There is nonelouder or higher than Philadelphia Ride For Dime Crew they covered their shit and were given less than month to pull shit off. Considering that, they were and are fucking awesome. Thanks gang for the incredible shit.
I shall be remiss if I am to leave out the folks at Whiskey Tango - Trevose. They run a tight ship and were 100% on top of things I have the highest and ultimate respect for how they host with the MOST. MUCH RESPECT PHILLY.
SPONSORS TO NOT BE FORGOTTEN - THANK YOU
Skulleez Head Gear
Scroched Earth Guitars
SERTOP
KING of Prussia Fed Ex Kinko's
The chick who made the Damge Quilt - Sorry I don't have the name baby

Show started with Walt Lafty of Silvertide -solo project it was a great start.
Second up was Frankenstein 3000 -Lead by Mr. Keith Roth -Keith had a great Dime story about how he helped them and their old band back in the day load all their shit from the club while it was winter and Dimbag is wearing shorts etc. That was how great a guy and

Who Is The Greatest Guitarist of All Time?

About Me

My photo
Always loved music. Focus on Hard Rock Heavy Metal, first songs I remember are Manfred Mann's Do Wa Diddy. First Concert 1975 KISS opening for Manfredd Man and Savoy Brown (band version #456). Started Internet Radio Station www.theBESTrockonline.com in December 2004. "Starmadillo Radio" as a tribute to Dimebag Darrell. Dime All the Time and lest we forget " the Fearless Four Forever" Darrell, Mr. Bray, Jeff and Erin. Thanks Officer Niggemayer for your courage and saving so many more that day.
